Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers to the things our customers ask most — from choosing the right unit to keeping it running for a decade.

Products & Specifications

What is the difference between a chiller and a freezer?

A chiller holds product at +2°C to +8°C for display and short-term storage; a freezer runs at −18°C or below for frozen goods. Chillers suit drinks, deli and fresh produce; freezers suit ice cream, meat and frozen stock.

How do I choose the right size cold room for my business?

Size on your peak stock volume, not your average. As a rule of thumb, allow roughly 1m³ of usable space per 150kg of boxed product, plus clearance for airflow and shelving. Send us your floor plan and stock list and we'll spec it for you.

Are your units rated for Australian ambient conditions?

Yes. Our commercial units are built for climate class 4 (up to 30°C / 55% RH) as standard, with high-ambient (class 5) options for hot kitchens and unconditioned spaces. Each product's spec sheet lists its rated range.

Can I get a unit with custom dimensions or finishes?

Modular cold rooms are built to your dimensions, and many display and counter units offer custom widths, finishes and branding on trade orders. Talk to us early — custom builds carry a 4–6 week lead time.

Ordering & Trade Accounts

Do you offer trade or wholesale pricing?

Yes. Approved foodservice operators, retailers and resellers get tiered volume pricing and net-30 trade accounts. Apply through our Trade page or request a quote.

What is the minimum order for trade pricing?

Trade pricing starts from 2 units of the same SKU, with deeper discounts at higher volumes. Multi-unit venue fit-outs are quoted individually.

How long does a formal quote take?

We return a formal PDF quote within one business day during the week. Complex multi-unit kit-outs may take a little longer.

Delivery & Installation

Do you deliver Australia-wide?

Yes — we ship Australia-wide from our Victorian warehouse. Lead times run 1–7 working days depending on your region, and freight is quoted up front before dispatch.

What does your installation service include?

Our certified install covers placement and levelling, plumbing for ice makers, gas-charge top-up, door alignment, a full temperature pull-down test, and removal of all packaging.

Can I arrange my own freight?

Absolutely. If you'd rather use your own carrier we'll have your order packed and ready for pickup — just let us know at the quote stage.

Warranty & Service

What warranty coverage do your products carry?

Every unit carries 2 years parts & labour and 5 years on the compressor, backed by a national network of certified AU technicians. See our Warranty page for the full breakdown.

What is not covered under warranty?

Damage from incorrect third-party installation, voltage spikes without surge protection, cosmetic wear after delivery, blocked condensers from lack of cleaning, and use outside the rated ambient range.

How do I book a warranty service call?

Email snowvillage.au@gmail.com with your serial number, invoice and a short description of the fault. We triage within one business day and arrange a technician — most metro callouts within 48 hours.

Do you stock spare parts?

Yes — fast-moving parts ship same-day from our Victorian warehouse. Quote your model and serial number and we'll confirm availability.

Maintenance & Care

How often should I clean the condenser?

Clean the condenser at least every 3 months — monthly in dusty or high-traffic kitchens. A clogged condenser is the single most common cause of poor cooling and high running costs.

Why is my display chiller running constantly?

Usually airflow: a dirty condenser, blocked vents, failing door seals, or ambient temperature above the rated range. Check those first; if it persists, log a service request.

Can I relocate a unit after installation?

Yes, but move it upright, let it stand 24 hours before powering on so the compressor oil resettles, and re-level on site. For built-in or plumbed units we recommend a technician.
